HARPER COLLINS ADVERTISES THE BOOK 'THE ADVENTURES OF MRS JESUS' AS A 'WONDERFULLY PROFANE AND INVENTIVE CHRONICLE OF THE LIFE OF HUMANKIND'S MOST TRAGICALLY OVERLOOKED SPOUSE. EVERYONE HAS A CROSS TO BEAR. HERS HAS HER HUSBAND ON IT.'
The book - characterized as a 'comic' book - contains illustrations about a disrespectful 'wife' of Jesus using His Crucifixion as a prop for 'jokes' and insults; Alleged News.
I have personally looked at illustrations and wording of this book.
EXEGESIS;
1. The comic is not historically accurate. All of the Gospels witness to Jesus Christ's Life, Death and Resurrection. There was no mention of Jesus ever undertaking matrimony.
2. The jokes are directed at Christ hanging in his final agony on the cross.
The definition of humor is; the quality of being amusing or comic, especially as expressed in literature or speech.
The definition of crucifixion is; a method of slow and painful execution in which the victim is tied or nailed to a large wooden cross and left to hang until eventual death from exhaustion and asphyxiation.
Humor is intended to be funny, amusing or comic. There is nothing amusing or comic about mocking the death throes of an asphyxiating man nailed to wood.
3. The definition of blasphemy is; the act of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk.
The definition of profane is; as an adjective, irreverent.
As a verb, treat something with irreverence or disrespect.
4. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He clearly warned that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is viewed very seriously by GOD. [Mark 3;29].
'The Adventures of Mrs Jesus' would thus appear - in both the advertisement and in fact - to be profane.
Because of the fact that the comments are directed towards the Son of God Who is One in Trinity with the Father and the Holy Spirit, both illustrations and comments appear blasphemous.
