PRAYER CHAPEL; MASS - PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON

The Gathering of the People of God
Priest: "Let us pray.
Almighty God,
to whom all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from whom no secrets are hidden:
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love You,
and worthily magnify Your Holy Name;
through Christ our Lord."
Congregation: "Amen."

Confession
Priest: "Let us confess our sins to God,
trusting in His Mercy and Forgiveness."

Congregation:
"Holy and forgiving God,
we have sinned against you and each other
in thought and word and deed.
We have turned from Your life-giving Word,
and ignored the message of those You sent.
We are unprepared for the coming of Your Son.
Have mercy upon us and forgive us,
that strengthened by your love
we may serve you more faithfully;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

Priest: ' "I am making all things new," says the Lord. This is Christ's gracious Word: 'Your sins are forgiven.'
Congregation: "Amen. Thanks be to God."

Priest;
"Let us pray; God of mercy and power,
Whose Son rules over all,
grant us so to live in obedience to Your Holy Will.
that at His Appearing
we may be raised to eternal life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Congregation: "Amen."

Luke 15:11-32
The Parable of the Prodigal Son

11 And He said, “There was a man who had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living.14 And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.
17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ 20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 But the father said to his servants,  ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.
25 “Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.’ 28 But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, 29 but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ 31 And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32 It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’”

Priest: "This is the Gospel of the Lord."
Congregation: "Praise to Christ our Lord."

Words of Comfort: "The message of this Gospel is one of repentance and forgiveness. There is not one of us who does not have something to repent, something which needs to be forgiven - and something to forgive.

Jesus showed us clearly that God is not only willing to accept our repentance, but longs for our return to His Love. If we have transgressed, let us not lose hope. There is no sin - let me repeat, THERE IS NO SIN, which cannot be forgiven.

The precious Blood of the Lamb of God Who died on Calvary paid the price of every sin from the beginning of the world, even unto its end. This seems incredible; because it is.
Only the direct intervention of God into the affairs of humanity could have effected this great redemption.

Bring your sins before the altar of God today. Run to the Father within your heart and confess them.
Receive His forgiveness and take up your life once more in the light of God.
And remember to forgive those who have wronged you. As we are forgiven, so we too must forgive.

As we remember the Prodigal Son, remember that 'there is more rejoicing in Heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine persons who do not need to repent'. [Luke 15:7]

Be confident, therefore, in bringing your confession privately to God and be forgiven.
Then go back to your life after this Mass, refreshed, and begin your new life - forgiven, holy and whole.'

The Lord's Supper
Priest: "Let us pray.
We do not presume
to come to this Your table,
merciful Lord,
trusting in our own righteousness,
but in Your manifold and great mercies.
We are not worthy
so much as to gather up
the crumbs under Your table.
But You are the same Lord
Whose Nature is always to have mercy.
Grant us therefore, gracious Lord,
to come to this table in order
to be fed by Your Gracious Son, Jesus Christ."
Congregation: "Amen."

Priest: "We praise You, Lord God, King of the universe,
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who, on the night in which He was betrayed,
took bread, gave thanks, broke it,
and gave it to His disciples, saying,
'Take and eat.
This is My Body given for you.
Do this in remembrance of Me.'

In the same way, after supper,
He took the cup, gave thanks,
and gave it to them, saying,
'Drink from it all of you.
This is My Blood of the new covenant,
poured out for you and for many,
for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, whenever you drink it,
in remembrance of Me."

Hymn: Come Back To Me

Come back to me with all your heart,

Don't let fear keep us apart.
Trees do bend though straight and tall,
So must we to others' call.

Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me,
And living deeply our new life.

The wilderness will lead you,
To the place where I will speak.
Integrity and justice,
With tenderness,
You shall know.

Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me,
And living deeply our new life.

Come back to me with all your heart,
Don't let fear keep us apart.
Long have I waited for,
Your coming home to me,
And living deeply our new life.

Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me,
And living deeply our new life.

Come back to me with all your heart,
Don't let fear keep us apart,
Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me,
And living deeply our new life.

Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me,
And living deeply our new life.
