The fruit and the gifts of the Spirit are expressions of God's love. The fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) is a variation of love in its character. Love, joy, gladness, peace are what love is within. Long-suffering, patience, gentleness, goodness are what love is towards others. Faithfulness, meekness (humility), temperance (self-control) are what love is towards God.
