May all who endeavour to maintain law and order in complex situations be protected by the God of Peace.
Sometimes it may prove hard to stand fast for morality and law in a world which is struggling. Names may be called, disrespect shown, salaries be small, risks great.
Yet God asks those tasked with law and order, "Watchman, what of the night?"
Yes, indeed, what of the night?
If there are not those who put their lives at peril to protect the safety of others and the innocent, what will happen?
Death and destruction, that's what.
If you are called to maintain law and order, may the God of Peace protect you in your holy task.
It does not matter what unruly elements may think of you and call you. It matters what the God of Justice and Mercy thinks of you and calls you.
And He calls you "Watchman". (Is 21:11-12)
A watchman is a sentry, one who keeps vigil; one who watches over people and property: patrols the streets in order to safeguard life and property, a term also applied to angels.
The call to keep law and order often is not appreciated by those who do not keep law and order. Don't worry - be strong. One day in Heaven, the true wages of your greatness will be paid in terms of honour and eternal life.
Until then - keep the faith and protect the innocent.
