Lord Comfort Me

Lord Comfort Me

When fear or darkness clouds my day,
I lift my eyes to You and pray,
Show me, Dear Lord, your Loving Face
My fearful soul fill with Your Grace.

When your heart is sad and lonely
And your friends seem far away,
Turn to Him is all holy,
And He'll drive your fears away.

When a dear one seems to fail you,
When for friendship true you long,
Confide in Him Who is all true,
And He'll right your every wrong.

Jesus' Heart is your True Refuge,
To Him you can always flee,
Even when your heart is sinking,
He will then a true friend be.

He will soothe your lonely spirit,
He will love, and bless and say,
Come to me and I will comfort you,
Now and every day.

Marian Prayer - Memorare

MARIAN PRAYER
MEMORARE

This beautiful prayer is prayed all over the world by many. It is known to be especially helpful and comforting when we are in need of a Mother's assistance, in times of searching or times of trouble. Why not pray to Mary of Nazareth, Our Lady, the Queen of Heaven? She loves to help us on our pilgrimage time on earth ...

"Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary
That never was it known
That anyone who fled to Thy protection, implored Thy help
Or sought Thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired with confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother.
To Thee do I come, before Thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my prayer,
But in Thy mercy, hear and answer me,
Amen."

The Miraculous Medal and Emblems of Belief

I WAS RECENTLY told of a child who, years ago, had been called up in Assembly in a Christian School and ordered to remove her religious devotional emblem of belief; the Miraculous Medal.

My question is; why?
As the humbled and broken people after the Fall, we are remarkably tactile by nature.
Little items of devotion, various rituals of spirituality, help us in our search back towards God from Whose Gentle Hands we originally came.

In my travels I have seen a gentleman proudly wearing his turban and beard while travelling in a train.
He looked magnificent, and his devotion to a higher way of life caused me to pause a moment and pray.

I have seen Buddhist Wheels of Prayer and Prayer Flags fluttering in the wind.
I have seen Temples of devotion where the Holy Buddha was represented, Three Faces with Three Expressions so luminously serene and beautiful that my heart was struck.

I have heard Temple Bells struck as prelude to prayer, seen devoted Priests minister to their Followers.
Holy Temples with Worshippers dedicatedly praying with utmost devotion inspired me to spend time in prayer.

So why should Christians be shy about wearing an Emblem denoting their faith in God and His Blessed Mother?
In the early Church, a Fish was the symbol of the Way.
Eventually the Cross became an acknowledged sign of Christianity.
Over the years, other aids to devotional prayer such as the Rosary, the Miraculous Medal, the Brown Scapular, Paintings and Sculptures depicting Jesus and the Saints have helped to inspire many on their spiritual path, and to bring comfort in times of trouble.

We are a global village of nations with different cultures, customs and genders.
Yet we are all on the same path - walking towards the day our personal earthly sojourn ends and we enter the hereafter.

So whether Prayer Wheels, Dedicated Prayer Shawls, Devotional Garb, Rosary beads or Miraculous Medals, let us rejoice in our devotion to the spiritual path towards the Everlasting Light and not deny the riches and solace of devotional items to our pilgrim children.

Prayer Chapel for Those Born from IVF who Mourn Sibling Embryos who Died

My Prayer;
"I am so lost.
To whom do I turn?
I was conceived through in vitro fertilisation, and feel so haunted.
My brothers? Sisters? who died at the time of my conception are so real to me.
I grieve for them; there is a part of my heart that is lost.
Who can understand what I am going through?
I am lost in a dark, deep wilderness, and feel as if I am struggling with absolutely no end in sight.
And the worst is, I am alone.
There is no one to whom I can really turn.
O God, please help me."

God's Answer;
"My dear child -
for that is what you are; a member of my dearly loved human family -
your brothers and sisters are safe with me.
I created a conception and birth process as my Master Plan for humanity,
and humanity has been somewhat creative with my initial intention.
Yet I, I alone, the God of All
Have the power to untie knots which others have tied and are impossible for humanity to unravel.
However it happens - whenever it happens - when a new life is created I have committed myself to creating a soul for that life.
So your brothers and sisters have souls, personalities.
They each have their own unique set of fingerprints, individual eye colour, individual path of life.
They came before their allotted time into My Kingdom.

You have survived on earth, and they have survived in Heaven.
For the joyous news is that every soul which does not grow to maturation on earth is taken unto Me, and cherished.
Mary, the Mother of My Son, helps me with this work.
So do my Angels, and others from my human family who are already with Me.

Why not have a naming ceremony for your siblings?
If three siblings went prematurely to Heaven during your conception process, name three siblings.
The naming of a child is a most profound spiritual moment.

So pray like this;
'Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before you today,
to claim and name my brothers and sisters whom I lost during our in vitro conception.
I name my first sibling Hannah, if she was a girl, and Thomas, if he was a boy.
I name my second sibling Sarah, if she was a girl, and Peter, if he was a boy.
I name my third sibling Anne, if she was a girl, and Paul, if he was a boy.
(Dear child, these are of course examples.
Use the names you wish to honour your siblings who are with Me).
I offer for them the Baptism of Desire.
Please care for them, and may Mary, the Queen of Unborn cherish my siblings and keep them safe with her until I am re-united with them one day again in Heaven.
Amen.'

I know of my human sons and daughters who have lost siblings in miscarriage, and who, when asked how many are in their family, state for example seven - six on earth, one in heaven.
So you, too, have the joy of knowing you will one day be reunited with your siblings in Heaven.
This I promise you.
Light candles in remembrance of your siblings.
Remember your siblings when you are at Mass and at prayer.
And pray to them for assistance - they are deeply aware of your distress that they cannot be with you in the earthly realm, but be assured of this - they watch over you from the heavenly realm.
And, as much as you love them, they dearly love you.

And so, dear child - be at peace.
My Son clearly foresaw this burden you carry when He spoke, saying;
'Come unto me, all you who are weary, and are heavy burdened;
And I will give you rest.'
Give unto my Son and Myself this burden, this worry you are carrying.
And be at rest, be at peace that all will be well.

I love you, dear child.
And your siblings.
Have courage, and believe in Me.
I will always be with you."
