A STATE JUDGE HAS DISMISSED A LAWSUIT FILED BY A SATANIC ORGANIZATION CHALLENGING MISSOURI'S 72 HOUR WAITING PERIOD AND INFORMED CONSENT LAWS ON ABORTION, ALLEGED NEWS.
The litigation was initiated by New York based satanic temple. The lawsuit challenged a Missouri statute adopted in 2010 that strengthened the informed consent requirements for women seeking abortions, Alleged News.
The Law specified that abortion minded women be provided with a information packet 24 hours prior to an abortion being performed, Alleged News.
The packet includes materials explaining the development of the unborn baby, the ability of the fetal baby to feel pain, health risks to women when they undergo the abortion procedure, alternatives to abortion with names and contact numbers of adoption agencies and pregnancy resource centers, Alleged News.
The lawsuit further contested another statute which was adopted by Missouri General Assembly in 2014, which extended the waiting period for an abortion for a woman who has received the information packet, from 24 to 72 hours; Alleged News.
The satanic temple has also filed a suit in federal court alleging that the informed consent and waiting period laws violate the Establishment Clause of the US Constitution, Alleged News. [1]
