Testimony to the historical veracity and spiritual cataclysm that was the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the film 'Risen' is being released in the US and Canada on 19th February 2016.
ELEMENT OF A SECOND CHANCE
The lead actor of 'Risen' - a film told through the eyes of a Roman soldier who is forced to confront the Resurrection of Jesus Christ - calls it a story for believers and nonbelievers alike.
'The film presents us with the element of a second chance, of forgiveness, of redemption,' the luminous Joseph Fiennes told CNA. Fiennes plays the character of Clavius, a Roman Tribune charged by Pontius Pilate to investigate the disappearance of Jesus' Body.
'Clavius as a man who's deeply conditioned in death, in killing, in warfare,' he said. Over the course of the film, 'he is challenged through a series of interrogations to look at and examine himself and his own conditioning,' Alleged News.[1]
RISEN
The film 'Risen' reflects the amazing events of the death of the Messiah and His Resurrection. The film explores the events that were directly triggered off by the re-emergence of Jesus - alive after documented spearing in the heart - in the doorway of the tomb.
Seasoned and battle-hardened guards were so terrified at the supernatural glory of the Angel of God designated to open the way for the Son of God, that their terror led them to near unconsciousness.
The Gospels report that, as the guards carried out their security duty at the bound and sealed door of the tomb, a shattering earthquake occurred.
As the eyewitnesses watched, an Angel descended in full glory and luminosity from the Side of GOD in Heaven.
He - military spiritual warrior - had been designated to open the way for His Lord as the Miracle of the Resurrection took place.
The Angel went to the tomb, in full view of the Roman guard.
Swords and military precision would have had no effect on this calm and purposeful spiritual being.
His appearance was like lightning, his clothes white as snow.
The Angel approached the tomb. The ropes burst under his influence, the seals shattered, and his supernatural strength made quick work of rolling back the burial stone in its groove.
Then the Angel - delighted that His Lord and Master was about to be vindicated and returned to the Earthly Body He had claimed - cheerfully sat on the tombstone.
Maybe the Angel was tired after moving the stone that weighed roughly 2000 to 4000 pounds [1 to 2 stone].
Maybe his supernatural strength was not taxed. It was a happy thing for a Prince of Heaven to do - perch on the very closure which had been placed to show that Jesus Christ was ended.
The Angel's seat on that previously roped and sealed closure showed that Jesus Christ was most emphatically not over; in fact, He - Resurrected and Alive - was now strongly ever more on the offensive against satan. [Matthew 28;2-4]
Military strength and might
The guards were so terrified at his military strength and might, that they trembled in fear of him, and 'became like dead men'. Possibly they fell into a state of fear that almost resembled unconsciousness. They obviously feared for their life, and feared these events outside their natural ken.
The glory of the film 'Risen' is that it explores the second chance that each of us are given on earth; to arise, change our life, and love God. We thus are given a spiritual passport from the Messiah, an entrance to Heaven; allowing us full liberty to live there as GOD'S human children, with GOD the LORD, for eternity.
