CHRISTMASTIDE CHURCH SERVICE

CHRISTMASTIDE CHURCH SERVICE

If you are unable to attend a Church Service, why not follow the service below in prayer and make spiritual Communion with Our Lord Jesus Christ? Perhaps you have been working in essential services, are caregiver at home or ill in bed. All of your intentions have been held before the Lord.

CHRISTMASTIDE CHURCH SERVICE

Celebrant; 'The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."
Congregation; 'Amen.'

Beginning hymn; O Holy Night
http://www.cross.tv/188671

Lyrics;

"Oh holy night, the stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth,
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary soul rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn,
Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices,
O night divine, O night when Christ was born,
O night divine, O night divine.

Truly He taught us to love one another,

His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother,
And in His Name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in joyful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy Name!
He knows our need,
Our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King, before Him lowly bend.
Behold your King, before Him lowly bend. "

Celebrant; "Let us pray.

Hear the words of the Angel to Joseph,
'You shall call His Name Jesus,
For He will save His people from His sins.
Let us rejoice in the coming of God's Son,
As we join in prayer this Holy Night."

Invitation to Confession;
Celebrant; "Christ the Light of the World has come,
to dispel the darkness.
Let us turn to His Light and reflect on our lives.'"

Here follows a few moments of silence. Reach out to God with your heart, and think of any area in your life where you can improve as a person. If there is an area in your life on which you need to work, silently communicate with God and commit to addressing this area.

Celebrant; "God our Father, You sent Your Son; born of a Virgin, born in a stable.

Forgive our failures to receive Him.
Lord have mercy."
Congregation; "Lord, have mercy".

Celebrant; "Jesus our Savior,
Born in poverty, apprentice to carpenter,
Forgive the times we have wanted money more than the ways of God.
Christ, have mercy".
Congregation; "Christ, have mercy".

Celebrant; "Spirit of Love,
Your servants Mary and Joseph obeyed Your Word and gave us our Saviour.
Forgive us when our hearts are hard".
Congregation; "Lord have mercy".

Celebrant; "May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to life eternal".
Congregation; "Amen".

Celebrant; "May God Who loved the world so much,

That He sent His Son to be our Saviour,
Forgive us our sins, and make us holy to serve Him in the world,
through Jesus Christ our Lord".
Congregation; "Amen.".

Congregation;

"Glory to God in the highest, And peace to all of goodwill.
We praise You, we bless you, we adore You, we glorify You.
We give You thanks for Your Great Glory.
Lord God, Heavenly King, God the Almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Begotten Son of the Father.
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father.
You Who take away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us. You are seated at the Right Hand of The Father,
Have mercy on us.
For You alone are Holy, You alone are Lord.
You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ.
With the Holy Spirit in the Glory of God the Father. Amen".

Readings;

First Reading from the Prophet Isaiah, 9;6-7
"For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given,
And the government will be upon His Shoulder.
And His Name will be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,
Of the increase of His government and peace,
There will be no end.
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this".

Responsorial Psalm

Response; Today is born our Saviour, Christ our Lord.
Sing to the LORD a new song,
Sing to the LORD, all you lands,
Sing to the LORD, bless His Name.

R. Today is born our Saviour, Christ our Lord.

Announce His Salvation, day after day,
Tell His glory among the nations,
Among all peoples, His wondrous deeds.

R. Today is born our Saviour, Christ our Lord.

They shall exult, before the LORD, for He comes;
He comes to rule the earth.
He shall rule the earth with justice,
And the peoples with His constancy.

R. Today is born our Saviour, Christ our Lord.

Second Reading from Luke 2;7;

"Mary gave birth to her Firstborn, a Son,
And wrapped Him in swaddling clothes,
And laid Him in a manger."

Gospel Acclamation:

"Alleluia, Alleluia.
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
And we have seen His glory.
Alleluia, Alleluia."

Celebrant; Gospel; Luke 2;1 - 16

"In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
And everyone went to their own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee in Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and town of David.
He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a Child. While they were there, the time came for the Baby to be born, and she gave birth to her Firstborn, a Son.
She wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
And there were shepherds living out  in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
An Angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the Glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
But the Angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring great news that will bring great joy to all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you; He will be wrapped in cloths, and laid in a manger.'
Suddenly a great company of the Heavenly Host appeared with the Angel, praising God and saying,
'"Glory to God in the Highest Heaven,
And on earth peace to those on whom His Favour rests."
When the Angels had left them and gone into Heaven, the shepherds said to one another;
"Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in the manger.'

Celebrant; "This is the gospel of Christ".
Congregation; "Glory to Christ our Saviour".

Word of Encouragement;

Celebrant; "It is easy for us to forget that the final result of our earthly history will be peace forever under the eternal reign of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, the heir to the throne of David. Yet we should always remember this fact. Every cloak rolled in blood will be burned, every spear shaped for war will be hammered into a shape suitable only for peacable pastimes. Christ Himself has promised this.
The promised Messiah has come into our world at Christmastime. Let us rejoice!
Let us refuse to be drawn into a spiral of violence. Let us decline to glamorise the hurting and suffering of others. We follow the Infant King Who is the Prince of Peace. Let each of us be peaceable in our families, homes and society. Only then will we be able to truly call ourselves followers of Jesus Christ, the Wonderful Counsellor and Son of God come down from heaven to earth.
Let us follow Him in our lives by being persons of peace and of prayer.
You may spend some time in quiet reflection if you so wish.

Prayers of Intercession;

Celebrant; 'Let us pray to Jesus our Saviour.
Christ, born in a stable,
Shepherd of all; search out those Who do not believe in God
and tirelessly help to enkindle the spark of faith in saddened hearts with no hope.'
Congregation; 'Jesus, Saviour,
hear our prayer.'

Celebrant; 'Christ, for whom the angels sang,

Bless all infants who have died through abortion over this past year.'
Congregation; 'Jesus, Saviour,
hear our prayer.'

Celebrant; 'Christ, worshipped by the shepherds,

we pray for immigrants and for those who have died fleeing conflict.'
Congregation; 'Jesus,, Saviour,
hear our prayer'
.
Celebrant; 'Christ, before whom the wise men knelt,
we pray for all who work against the coming of Your Kingdom, that they may receive miraculous conversion of heart.

Congregation; 'Jesus, Saviour,
hear our prayer.'
Celebrant; 'Christ, whose radiance filled a lowly manger,
give the glory of your resurrection to all who rest in you.'
Congregation; 'Jesus, Saviour,
hear our prayer.'

Celebrant; 'Jesus, Saviour, child of Mary,

you know us and love us,
you share our lives
and hear our prayer.
Glory to you for ever. Amen.,

Breaking of Bread

Celebrant; 'Almighty God, You made a covenant with Your people, and declared Your purpose of justice and love.
When all things were ready, You sent Your Son to be Our Saviour.
In words and deeds He proclaimed Your Kingdom, and obeyed Your Will even to death on the cross.
Through His mighty death and resurrection, He overcame sin and death, to set the whole creation free.
We praise You, Father, that on the night before He gave His life, our Lord Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it and gave it to His disciples and said; 'Take, eat; this is My Body which is broken for you.
Do this in memory of me.'
Congregation; 'Lord Jesus, You are the Bread of Life.'
Celebrant; 'After the same manner also He took the cup, gave thanks and gave it to them saying, 'Take this, all of you, and drink; for this is My Blood; the Blood of the New Covenant which is poured out for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sins. Do This in memory of Me.'
Congregation; 'Lord Jesus, You are the Cup of Life, the wine that is blessed for our salvation.'

The Lord's Prayer;
'Our Father, Who art in Heaven,
Hallowed by Thy Name;
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever, Amen.'

Benediction;

Celebrant; 'May the joy of the Angels,
The eagerness of the shepherds,
The perseverance of the wise men,
The obedience of Joseph and Mary,
And the peace of the Christ-Child
Be yours this Christmas;
And the blessing of Almighty God be yours this Christmas, now and forever,'
Congregation; 'Amen'.

Final Hymn; Silent Night

http://www.cross.tv/230720

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born

Silent night, holy night!
Son of God love's pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth

Pope Pius XI regarding abortion: "God is the Avenger of innocent blood"

Pope Piux XI
Casti Connubii

REGARDING ABORTION
God is the Avenger of Innocent Blood

"67. Those who hold the reins of government should not forget that it is the duty of public authority by appropriate laws and sanctions to defend the lives of the innocent, and this all the more since those whose lives are endangered and assailed cannot defend themselves. Among whom we must mention in the first place infants hidden in the mother 's womb. And if the public magistrates not only do not defend them, but by their laws and ordinances betray them to death at the hands of doctors or of others, let them remember that God is the Judge and Avenger of innocent blood which cried from earth to Heaven."

POLICEMAN'S PRAYER TO ST MICHAEL

St Michael, Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force. Give us cool heads, stout hearts, strong arms, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgement. Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations. You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration. And when we lay down our police badges, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of men. Amen.

NEW MOVIE 'HAIL SATAN' ALLEGED NEWS - WHY NOT SIGN THE PETITION?

JESUS FOREVER - SATAN NEVER

GOOD SHEPHERD CHURCH HAS RECEIVED NEWS THAT A MAGNOLIA PICTURES MOVIE 'HAIL SATAN' HAS BEEN RELEASED IN AMERICA; ALLEGED NEWS. [1] We have viewed trailers and reviews online.

Satan is the great deceiver [The Bible, Revelation, 12:9]. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ expressly warned us against satan, stating the devil was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. He is a liar, and the father of lies. [John 8:43-45].

Documentary
The 'Hail satan' movie is a documentary about the rise of the satanic temple and its members; Alleged News. [1]

WHY NOT SIGN THE PETITION?
The choice is simple. Either we stand for GOD and His Son Jesus Christ, or we do not. Why not sign the petition?

JESUS CHRIST HAS TENDER LOVE FOR YOU

YOU WERE CREATED OUT OF LOVE. From all eternity God had you in mind. His heavenly eternity will not be complete without you. He made you to know Him, love Him and serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him forever in the next.
Know well that there is only one you. There never has been another you, there is no other you, and there will never be another you.
You are unique, irreplaceable, personally cherished by Jesus Christ. The Savior has tender love for you.
Remember that you are priest, prophet and king. Every person, man, woman and child is made in the Image and Likeness of Almighty God.
Our baptism calls us to be priest - to bring the message of eternal salvation to others.
We are called to be prophet - to witness to others of the good news of God and His Kingdom, and that Jesus Christ truly is the Son of God.
We are called to be king - we are royal descendants - EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US - members of the family of God.

Hold fast to this knowledge, brave soul. Life may seem to be confusing, harsh, unjust. However, in the end God will prevail.
Turn to Him in all your needs, and remember in every circumstance - especially the most difficult - that JESUS CHRIST HAS TENDER LOVE FOR YOU AND WILL NEVER FAIL YOU.

Blessings upon you.

EASTER MIDNIGHT MASS

Remember that Jesus Christ is the Light of the world. Light a candle to remind yourself of this glorious fact. If you have no candle, or are unable to do so, why then, light the love of your heart for Him as your candle.

Priest: "The Easter Vigil begins in darkness. The darkness of the tomb is split open as the Light of the world resurrects and pours life-giving light to the whole world.

O God, grant that our hearts may be purified by your beloved Son Jesus Christ.

We offer You our love and praise in honour of so glorious a gift to our world,

Amen."

Let the light of your candle illumine the darkness of your room or house.
Think of all the wonderful things God had accomplished within your life. If you are depressed, ill, or in difficulty, ask God to help you open your heart to the healing that Jesus Christ brings.

THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
If you are in a family, let each family member light a candle from the first candle. In this way, we too are inspired by Jesus Christ, and pass His light and love on from one person to another. This is how we witness to His Light and love in dark situations in our world.

EASTER VIGIL READING

Mark 16

The Resurrection

16 When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?”And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene
Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.10 She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept. 11 But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it.

Jesus Appears to Two Disciples

12 After these things he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. 13 And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.

The Great Commission

14 Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. 15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.

BAPTISM

If you have been baptized, here quietly renew your promises to Jesus to continue practising holiness in your life, and to be faithful to Him.

If you have been baptized, and fallen away from your faith, why then, just renew your baptismal promises and start all over again.

If you have never been baptized, why not accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour?

He truly is the Son of God, and is waiting for you. Invite joy into your life and accept Him. Seek baptism.

Here is a chapel for accepting Jesus Christ into your life:

LITANY OF THE SAINTS
Priest: "Let us thank God for the holy men and women who have gone before us, showing that it is possible to reach the holiness God desires for us. Let us remember our holy ones."
Congregation: "We remember you, our holy family in heaven."

BLESSING OF THE WATER
If you are not near a church, pour some water into a bowl. Sprinkle a little salt in it if you have some. Ask the Lord to bless the water and make it holy. Now you have your own holy water!
It is helpful to keep a small bottle of holy water in your home, procured from church, a holy place of pilgrimage, or holy well.
The priest blesses the water, and sprinkles the congregation with it.
We remember that Jesus is the Water of Life and brings us to holiness through baptism.

WE NOW REJECT OUR ANCIENT ENEMY SATAN
Priest: "Do you reject sin, so as to live in the freedom of God's children?'
Congregation: "I do."

Priest: "Do you reject the glamour of evil, and refuse to be mastered by sin?"
Congregation: "I do."

Priest: "Do you reject satan, father of sin and prince of darkness?"
Congregation: "I do."

WORDS OF COMFORT
"She sat stitching at night, straining her eyes in the flickering of the candle. It did not matter. What mattered was that her Son would have clothing which would keep Him covered, warm in winter, cool in summer.
So she wove a garment all in one piece. And now soldiers quarrelled over the garment as her Son hung dying on the cross. The clothes which Mary had made with such love and devotion had become the blood spattered remnants of a condemned criminal.
With every stitch Mother Mary had placed in the cloth, with every step of the weaving, she was not merely making a tunic.
Every stitch was her saying, 'I love you.'

Well. Therein lies a parable for us all on this wondrous Easter night. Mary showed her love for her Son, our beloved Savior, by stitching, cooking, caring, loving. It is the little things which really matter, after all.
Not all of us are called to actions which stand before the world as acts of public greatness. All of us are called however to do little things in a spirit of love and nobility.

When Jesus was dying upon the cross, He made His last will and testament. He left what was most precious to Him to His follower John. Jesus entrusted the care of His Mother Mary to John, so she would not be left poverty stricken and alone.
She would have, in effect, another son to care for her.
As Jesus died, He showed what was most important to Him.
Not a palace. Not property. Not heirlooms, nor silver, or gold.
But relationship built on love. Jesus prizes love above all.
How many of us can say the same? When God calls us home to heaven, what quick arrangements would we wish to make?
Would they regard a house, payment of mortgage, who to leave a ring to, or who will inherit our personal possessions?
Or would we, like Christ, treasure love and our relationships above all?

This Easter night, let us look to our lives and examine our values as closely as Mary looked at her stitches. Do we have love in our hearts? Do we treasure others? Do we let others know that we truly care?
This way of love and compassion has its price. Sometimes others do not value us despite our love. Well, then, we simply walk in the same path of suffering and misunderstanding Jesus did. Be brave, dear soul. Be brave enough to love as Jesus did. Value relationships above all, enough to 'love your neighbour as yourself', and to love and honor others by being faithful to the Ten Commandments.

This splendid Easter night, turn to the Christ of the Resurrection to ask for the grace to follow the Lord of Relationships with grace and dignity. May the blessings of Easter be yours! Amen."

THE EUCHARIST
Priest; "As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed and broke it. He gave it to His disciples, saying; "Take all you, and eat. This is My Body, which is broken for you."
Congregation; "Lord Jesus, You are the Bread of Life."

Priest; "At the end of supper, Jesus took the cup. He gave thanks, and gave it to His disciples, saying, "Take, all of you, and drink; this is My Blood of the new covenant, Which is shed for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of Me." '

Congregation; "Lord Jesus, You are the cup of life, the wine blessed for our salvation."

[Receive communion. If you are unable to attend Holy Mass, receive Jesus spiritually within your heart and soul now. Spend some time in prayer].

LORD'S PRAYER
Priest; "Let us now pray the Lord's prayer in the words Jesus gave us."

Priest and Congregation;
'Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come
Thy Will be done
One earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
Our daily bread,
And forgive us our sins,
As we forgive those who sin against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen."

PRAYER AND BLESSING
Priest; "Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You for sending us Your only Son, Jesus Christ.
We rejoice in His Resurrection. This night the tomb is robbed of death, and is empty!
There is Light in the midst of our darkness!

We have been fed by the Word and given new life in the waters of baptism.
We have been given renewed life in the Eucharist, and receive life from Jesus our Lord.
We ask for Your blessing as we go forth to witness to the world the truth that JESUS CHRIST IS THE RISEN SON OF GOD!"
Congregation; "Amen. ALLELUIA!"

Hear the bells ringing, they're singing that you can be born again
Here the bells ringing, they're singing Christ is risen from the dead

The angels up on the tombstone
Said He has risen, just as He said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead

Joy to the word, He has risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
