CORONAVIRUS ANOINTING OF THE SICK SERVICE IF YOU ARE ILL OR CARING FOR THE SERIOUSLY ILL

IF YOU ARE ILL, HERE IS THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK SERVICE.  In this time of illness, we have the comfort that we can turn to Jesus Christ. The Saviour was moved by our suffering on earth. Now at this time of Coronavirus, many are called to share in Christ's ministry of compassion and healing. The risen Lord has left us the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick to comfort us in illness, and at times, give us healing. St James recommended that if any among us is sick, to call for the elders of the church and let them pray over us.

The reality is that the Coronavirus has resulted in the lockdown of many churches; priests are unable to go out and minister. Too, due to the danger of passing on the virus, the anointing of the sick with oil is difficult.

So, if you are ill or caring for those who are ill, and do not have the ability to call upon a priest during lockdown, here is a sacrament of anointing of the sick prayer you may use:

If you are ill, pray the following:
"Heavenly Father, giver of life and salvation,
sanctify my life and grant healing to your sick.
Grant that I may receive this sacrament of the sick in faith and repentance
and may be made whole, by the power of the Holy Spirit,
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen."

Make your confession silently to God.
Pray the act of contrition:
"O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You,
and I detest my sins most of all because they offend You, my God, Who are all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your Grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin."
You may visit the Chapel of Repentance:

If you wish to give your life to Jesus Christ, visit the Chapel at the following link:

If you wish to be baptised, and are unable to receive baptism due to current lockdown restrictions, you may undergo the baptism of desire. Pray the following prayer:
"Our Lord Jesus Christ has told us
that to enter the kingdom of heaven,
we must be born again of water and the Spirit;
and has given us baptism as the sign and seal of this new birth.
Here let me be washed by the Holy Spirit and made clean:
Here let me be clothed with Christ,
dying to sin that I may live His risen life;
As child of God, I have a new dignity
and God calls me to fullness of life.
Dear God, I pray for the baptism of desire,
I pray You grant this baptism to me. Amen."

If you are administering spiritual comfort of the sick in this time of illness in the absence of a priest, pray the following over the ill person;
"Heavenly Father, giver of life and salvation,
sanctify (here put in the person or persons name or names) life (or lives).
Grant that those who in faith and repentance
receive this ministry
may, by the power of the Holy Spirit, be made whole;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen."

Then pray:
"May our heavenly Father grant you
the inward anointing of the Holy Spirit;
of His great mercy release you from suffering,
and restore you to wholeness and strength.
May He deliver you from all evil,
preserve you in all goodness,
and keep you to eternal life:
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

If you feel you are soon to go to God, pray the act of contrition to prepare your soul for heaven:
"O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You,
and I detest my sins most of all because they offend You, my God, Who are all-good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of Your Grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin."

If you see that someone for whom you are caring has gone to God, pray the following:
"Eternal rest grant unto him (or her), O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him (or her);
May he (or she) rest in peace,
Amen."

Prayer for a group of people who have gone to the Lord:
"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace,
Amen."

The mercies of the Lord
I shall sing forever.
By the mercy of the Lord
all things were made.
With the mercy of the Lord
the earth is filled.
For from the mercy of the Lord
we have not been cut off.

For the Lord is pleasant,
and mild, and patient,
and greatly merciful,
and many are the mercies
to all who call on him.
O how good is the Lord!
O how sweet!
O how pleasant is the Lord
to humankind,
and his compassion
is upon all his works.

Have mercy upon us, O Lord.
Let your mercy, O Lord,
be upon us,
just as we have hoped.
In you, O Lord, have I hoped:
I shall never be confounded.
Amen.

IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF SPECIAL HELP FROM JESUS CHRIST

Adam and Eve listened to the voice of the devil instead of the Voice of God. Thus the relationship between God and our ancestors was broken - and God was heartbroken.
Our Saviour came to redeem us at terrible personal cost.
Let us always steadfastly refuse to listen to the promptings of the evil one.

Jesus appeared to St Margaret Mary Alacoque. He entrusted her with knowledge of how great the love of the Heart of God is for humanity. Jesus made 12 promises which His Sacred Heart will honour if we honour Him in our homes.

A wonderful devotion is to place a picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a central place in our homes.

The Great Promises of
the Sacred Heart of Jesus

JESUS MADE THE FOLLOWING PROMISES
FOR THOSE WHO HONOUR HIM

1. I will give them all the graces that are necessary for their state in life
2. I will help all families that are in difficulty and I will bring peace to families that are divided
3. I will console them in their afflictions
4. I will be their safe refuge in life and especially at the hour of their death
5. I will shower their work with abundant blessings
6. Sinners will find a source and an ocean of Mercy in My Heart
7. I will bring religious communities and individual faithful people back to their initial fervour
8. Fervent souls will reach great perfection in a short time
9. I will bless the places where the image of My Sacred Heart is exposed and honoured
10. To all of those who work for the salvation of souls I will give the gift of moving even the most hardened hearts
11. The name of those who propagate devotion to My Sacred Heart will be written in My Heart and it will never be cancelled out [Jesus' great Love for us is often depicted as the Saviour with a heart with flames (on fire with love for us) - and is known as the "Sacred Heart of Jesus].

Lastly, the Great Promise:
"I promise you, in the excess of Mercy of My Heart, that My Omnipotent Love will give all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Friday of the Month for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance.
They will not die in a state of disgrace, or without receiving the Sacraments, and My Heart will be their safe refuge during that last hour."

How to do the Nine First Fridays;
1. Make confession to God of your sins, and repent them
2. Attend the Holy Eucharist and receive Communion on the First Friday of each month. Do this for nine months.

What does Confession require?
First, when we confess to God, we need to reflect. What have we done that is sinful, that requires change?
We then turn to God and confess where we have gone wrong.
We need to realize that we must change our way of life.
We make a firm decision to change our life with God's help.

Now choose to do only that which is right.
If it is in any way possible, let us resolve to make amends in the situation we caused.
Sometimes, unfortunately, this is not possible.
In that case, let us put the situation into the gentle Hands of Jesus and ask Him to intercede in whatever way possible. Then be at peace.

We are all on a journey; we are all prone to sinfulness.
We all make mistakes on our way.
Yet, let us do everything we can to live as faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
This means following the Commandments, and following the precepts of life Jesus Christ taught in the Gospels.

Why pray the Nine First Fridays devotion?
There is good sense behind the practice. A regular and devoted prayer life stands us in good stead, and strengthens our morality, sense of values and character.
This helps ut to be strong when faced with situations that may tempt us to do wrong, instead of that which is right.

CHAPEL OF REPENTANCE
If you are unable to visit a good and reputable priest for confession, make your peace with God at the chapel of repentance.

POPE PIUS XII - GUIDE FOR LIVING

"All men are as children before God; all, even the most profound thinkers and the most experienced leaders of peoples.
They judge events with the foreshortened vision of time, which passes and flies past irretrievably. God, on the other hand, sees events from on high, from the unmoved centre of eternity. They have before their eyes the limited view of a few years. God has before Him the all-embracing panorama of the ages. They think of human events in relation to their proximate causes and immediate effects. God sees them in their remote causes and judges them in their remote effects. They stop to single out this or that particular reponsible hand. God sees a whole hidden complicated convergence of responsibilities, because His exalted Providence does not exclude the free choice of evil and good in human selection.

They would have immediate justice, and are scandalised at the ephemeral power of the enemies of God, the sufferings and humiliations of the innocent permitted by God. But our Heavenly Father, Who in the light of His eternity embraces, penetrates and dominates the vicissitudes of time as much as the serene peace of the endless ages; God, Who is the Blessed Trinity, full of compassion for the weaknesses, ignorance and impatience of men, but Who loves men too much for their faults to turn Him from the ways of His wisdom and love, continues, and will continue, to make His sun to rise on the good and the evil, and to send rain on the just and the unjust; to guide their childlike steps with firmness and kindness if only they will let themselves be led by Him and have trust in the power and the wisdom of His love for them.

What does it mean to trust in God?
Trust in God means the abandonment of oneself, with all the forces of the will sustained by grace and love, in spite of all the doubts suggested by appearances to the contrary, to the wisdom, the infinite love of God. It means believing that nothing in this world escapes His Providence, whether in the universal or in the particular order; that nothing great or small happens which is not foreseen, willed or permitted, directed always by Providence to its exalted ends, which in this world are always inspired by love for men."
