A DAY WITH MARY - A DAY OF INSTRUCTION, DEVOTION AND INTERCESSION

ENTRANCE SONG - "HAIL QUEEN OF HEAVEN"

ENTRANCE
Verse 1
Hail Queen of Heaven, the ocean star
Guide of the wanderer here below,
Thrown on life's surge, we claim thy care,
Save us from peril and from woe.
Mother of Christ, star of the sea,
Pray for the wanderer, pray for me.

Verse 2
O gentle, chaste and spotless maid,
We sinners make our prayers through thee;
Remind thy Son that He has paid
The price of our iniquity.

Virgin most pure, star of the sea,
Pray for us sinners, pray for me.

Verse 3
Sojourners in this vale of tears,
To thee blest advocate we cry.
Pity our sorrows, calm our fears,
And soothe with hope our misery.
Refuge in grief, star of the sea,
Pray for the mourner, pray for me.

Verse 4
And while to Him Who reigns above,
In Godhead One, in Persons Three,
The source of life, of grace, of love,
Homage we pay on bended knee.
Do thou, bright Queen, star of the sea,
Pray for thy children, pray for me."

PRAYER BEFORE THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Spend time in prayer before Jesus, our Lord and Saviour

1. Please take a deep breath and quiet your thoughts
2. Next, become aware of Jesus listening to You
3. Spend time speaking to Him from your heart. Do this in silence - this is between you and Him
4. Don't be afraid. If you are fearful; tell Him. If you are angry; explain why. If you are tearful; cry. If you are worried; lay your burden before Him. If you don't know what to do; tell Him and lean on His strength. If you've messed up, hand the problem over to Him and ask Him to help you make amends. If you're happy, rejoice with Him. If you're peaceful, just enjoy His company. Whatever your situation, be with Jesus. He's the best Friend in the world.
5. After spending some time with Him, bring your prayer requests to Him

It's a great idea to visit a church and spend time in silent adoration in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Words of Comfort;
Mary, Queen of Heaven, started out as a little girl on earth. Think of it.
We are entranced by the idea of women marrying into royalty, becoming princesses.
Wearing glamorous clothes, experiencing fame, enjoying wealth and the beauty of costly jewellery.

Mary - a girl from Nazareth - now commands Queenship over the entire universe.
When she started out, in place of jewellery she received a donkey to transport her to Bethlehem.
Instead of a palace, she received an animals' stable.
Instead of lands, she received flight as a refugee into a neighbouring land.
Instead of adulation, she received veiled glances from peers due to her unexpected pregnancy.
Let's face it; this - according to our human standards - was not the way things were expected to go.
She should have been feted - adored - wealthy; as the mother of the Son of God.

Instead she went unrecognized, in fear of possible stoning; so poor she couldn't give birth in an inn.
Even today Mary has to face the indignity of vituperation and rituals expressly designed to demean her dignity and honour as Mother of the Son of God.

Well. And yet. If Mary had not experienced poverty, would those of us experiencing earthly poverty be as comfortable approaching her with our woes?
If Mary had only experienced adulation and comfort, would she understand the bitter road humanity walks?
If Mary had only known easy and comfortable times within protected wall, would she be as effective at crushing satan's plans?

It is Mary's utter experience with every pain we have experienced; every path we have trod; every fear we have felt; every joy we have celebrated; that makes her such as great Queen.
Mary, we turn to you today to ask you to help us on our way.
We pray in reparation for all the blasphemies offered you, and ask you to intercede with your Divine Son on behalf of those who offer the blasphemies.
Truly, they know not what they do.

Solemn Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and we recommend to You, all the people of our country and all the world.
Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in the world.
O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully.
We come with confidence to You, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Make our hearts and homes Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in every heart and home.
Amen.
-Venerable Pope Pius XII
