LENT - TIME FOR RECONCILIATION; HAVE NO FEAR OF GOD

The Transfiguration

Do not fear God

17 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.

Matthew relates this beautiful story of how Jesus slowly started to reveal to the startled disciples His true being.
If Jesus had come down in all His glory as the Son of God from heaven, people would have been overawed by His magnificence and wealth.
They would never have been able to forge intimate and loving friendships with Jesus; fear and respect would have stood in the way.
Now, at this Lenten time, Jesus stands over each one of us as the Transfigured Ruler of the Universe, and gently touches our shoulders, bidding us not to fear Him.
If you have sinned, know that the luminous Lord of Creation has the power to forgive that sin; NO MATTER HOW GRAVE. NO MATTER HOW GHASTLY. NO MATTER HOW UNREPEATABLE IN POLITE SOCIETY.
Know that you are not alone. Each person struggles with sin. It is an ongoing struggle, the road to holiness; and not an easy one for the poor fallen sons and daughters of Adam and Eve.
And yet the battle is already won; Jesus the Son of God had already paid our sin-price, the unpayable debt to God. This He did by giving up His Life as a Holy Sacrifice in our stead.
So be confident. Turn to the God of Love, Mercy and Forgiveness and confess your sin within yourself to Him.
Then know that you are forgiven. He has promised this.
Make this Lent the change you have been waiting for. Grasp onto the promises made by Jesus by repentance, and change your values and lifestyle to those loved by God.
BECOME A SAINT!
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR LENT!
